The Game’s Objective
Baccarat is essentially a guessing game. It’s simply a bet on which of two dealt hands – the Banker’s hand and the Player’s hand – will win. A winning hand has the highest number of points out of a possible nine.
Live Dealer
The dealer starts the game by dealing the cards. The dealer stands in front of the players in the center of the table to reach every position on the Baccarat table.
Game Table
Depending on the version of Baccarat, there are seven to fourteen seats for players and a dealer’s area. Regardless of the number of players seated, only two hands of cards are dealt: the Player’s and the Banker’s. Players do not receive their own cards; instead, each has their own betting area.
Betting Area
The betting table has three options: one for the player, one for the banker, and one for the tie.
Banker Hand
On this hand, a successful bet pays even money, or 1 to 1. For example, if you wager $20 and win, you will receive $20 less the 5% commission.
Player Hand
A winning bet on the this hand pays even money as well.
Tie
A winning tie bet pays out at odds of 8 to 1.
Banker’s Third Card Rules
Baccarat rules of the Banker’s first two cards are:
0 – 1 – 2: Bank draws until the player reveals a natural 8 or 9.
The bank draws if the player’s third card is 0 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 9 – 10 – 11 – 12 – 13 – 14 – 15 – 16 – 17 – 18 – 19 – 20 – 21 – When the third card of the player is an 8, the bank stands.
If the player’s third card is 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7, the bank draws.
When the third card of the player is 0 – 1 – 8 – 9, the bank stands.
If the player’s third card is 4 – 5 – 6 – 7, the bank draws.
When the third card of the player is 0 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 – 9, the bank stands.
If the player’s third card is a 6–7, the bank draws.
When the third card of the player is 0 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 8 – 9, the bank stands.
When Does A Third Card Get Drawn?
If neither hand contains an 8 or a 9, the dealer may draw another card on one or more hands, depending on their total in baccarat rules. One of the most tempting aspects of Baccarat rules is the simplicity of the rules for when a third card is drawn.
